I just closed on a new house in the Hampton Cove area of Huntsville Alabama. I couldn't have done this without the help and guidance from my realtor, Robert Hussey. Before the move, I had been working in Japan for the past 27 years. So, it was quite the relocation to come all the way back to the States to find and then settle in to a new house. It wasn’t easy, but Robert really helped to make the whole move go smoothly. Back in June after making the decision to move to Huntsville, I took a week-long trip to scout the area and look for a house. But I didn't know any realtors in the area so, I just checked the internet and made a few phone calls. Robert Hussey was the first to return my call. We spoke on the phone, he sounded good, and the very next day, he started showing me some houses. And then he showed me more houses on the following day. Robert showed me many different types of houses, in different neighborhoods and locations. He was very knowledgeable about the area, the schools, safety issues, and the current state of the housing market in Huntsville. Robert has years of experience working in real estate, and while looking at different houses he shared with me his take on various builders in the area on their quality of workmanship and customer service. He talked about what to look for in choosing a new house and what to expect after moving in. We also had discussions about resale and housing market trends. At the end of the week, I tried, but I just couldn’t decide on a house. So, I told Robert that I was going to return to Japan and “think about it.” His reaction surprised me. Robert was very gracious and put absolutely no pressure on me. He said that he's learned over the years that it's no good to push, and that sales that don't materialize today can sometimes come together in the future. I thought that was pretty cool. And so we said goodbye, and he wished me luck on my search. Well, a few months later, in September, I brought my wife and kids to Alabama to have second look at the Huntsville houses. I called up Robert, and told him I was back, this time with my family, and I asked him if he’d be able to show us some more houses. He was happy to hear from me, and happy to oblige. He met my family; they hit it off, and we continued where he and I had left off. We started with some of the houses that I had seen and liked, and he showed us some new ones. When Robert brought us to a subdivision in a new community being built in the Hampton Cove area, our search suddenly came to a stop. We found it! This was the one. Two days later we signed an agreement to purchase a plot of land, and the next day we worked with the builder to design our home to be. We then hopped on the plane and returned to Japan to await the construction of our new house. Over the fall and the early winter, Robert sent us pictures and kept us posted on the progress of the build. He also found (and accompanied) an independent home inspector to do a walkthrough in our house just before the drywall was put up. Robert told me that it was important to do this in order to visually check the structural integrity of our new home. I would have never thought to do this. It cost a few bucks, but I’m glad we did it. It made me feel more assured. When we returned to Alabama at the end of January to close on the house, Robert helped us through the final walkthrough, and with the closing procedures at the title company. He also helped with some questions we had about insurance and internet service. He gave us a lot of good information about a lot of things. In closing, Robert Hussey is a friendly and knowledgeable realtor with tons of experience. In finding us our dream house, he asked all the right questions to help guide our search, and he answered all of our questions and addressed all our concerns. He's very easy to talk too and east to work with. I highly recommend Robert Hussey to anyone relocating to or moving within the Huntsville area.
